How-to Guide - Configuring Cash and Card Payments
The purpose of this guide is to show how to configure Cash and Card payment methods (Tender Types) in the Enactor Estate Manager and POS. It covers Tender configuration for Cash and Card tenders, Card Type configuration, IIN Range configuration, and the creation of a Tender Menu at the POS.
Tender Type configuration sets up the payment rules and behaviours for how each payment method operates at the Point of Sale. Card Types and IIN Ranges define the card schemes accepted and how they are identified. The Tender Menu configuration makes the configured tenders available to cashiers at the POS.
This guide provides practical guidance for the most common Cash and Card payment setup. Refer to the full Enactor solution documentation for a detailed explanation of all available settings. Configuration of the Enactor Payment Service itself (acquirer connectivity, PED setup) is out of scope for this guide.
Overview
This guide covers:
- Tender Configuration - Accessing Tender Maintenance and configuring Cash and Card tenders.
- Card Types - Defining the card schemes accepted (e.g. Visa, Mastercard) and their processing rules.

Tender Configuration
Accessing Tender Maintenance
Navigate to Tenders using the Search or the path: Main Menu > Configuration > Financial > Tenders

When creating a new tender, select Create a new Tender to open the initial dialog. Enter the Region, Tender Type, and Tender ID, then select Create:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Region | The Region for this tender. Tenders configured at a higher region are available to stores in lower-level regions. |
| Tender Type | Sets the basic rules for the tender (e.g. Cash, Card). |
| Tender ID | A unique identifier for this tender within the selected Region. |
This completes the Accessing Tender Maintenance configuration.
Cash Tender Configuration
To configure the Cash tender, either select the pre-existing Cash tender for your region or create a new tender with a Tender Type of Cash, then configure the following tabs.
General Tab
On the General tab, provide a description for the tender type and select the appropriate currency. Enable the Open Drawer option so that the cash drawer opens when the tender is selected. Alternatively, Open Drawer at End waits until the transaction is fully tendered before opening the drawer:

Restrictions 1 Tab
The Restrictions 1 tab controls how the tender may be used for payments and refunds:

| Field | Recommended Setting | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Debits Allowed | Checked | Permits the tender to be used for payments (sales). |
| Debit Tendering Restrictions | None | No restrictions - the customer may overpay and receive change. |
| Debit Limit | Optional | Maximum cash payment value per transaction. |
| Credits Allowed | Checked | Permits the tender to be used for refunds. |
| Credit Tendering Restrictions | Amount less than or equal to balance | Prevents giving the customer more cash than is due. |
| Credit Limit | Optional | Maximum cash refund value per transaction. |
| Prompt With Amount Due | Optional | Pre-fills the tender entry with the remaining transaction balance. |
Restrictions 2 Tab
The Restrictions 2 tab is used to specify permitted Return Tenders - the tender types that may be used when refunding a transaction originally paid with this tender. For a Cash tender, alternative return tenders (such as Gift Card or Credit Note) are commonly added to handle large refunds:

If no Return Tenders are configured, all tenders for the Region are offered to the user for a receipted return. Return tender rules may also be overridden by the Reason Code used or by user privileges.
Cash Tender - Drawer Limit
On the Cash tender-specific tab, a Drawer Limit can be configured. If the cash drawer total exceeds this value, the POS alerts users periodically until a Pickup is carried out:

For basic Cash tender functionality, no changes are required under Discount Restrictions, Overlap Tenders, User Limits, Change, Surcharge, or Attributes. Refer to the How-to Guide - Configuring Tender Types for details on these tabs.
This completes the Cash Tender Configuration.
Card Tender Configuration
To configure the Card tender, either select the pre-existing Card tender for your region or create a new tender with a Tender Type of Card (or the appropriate payment card type), then configure the following tabs.
General Tab
On the General tab, provide a description for the tender type and select the appropriate currency:

Restrictions 1 Tab
Configure the following options on the Restrictions 1 tab:

| Field | Recommended Setting | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Debits Allowed | Checked | Permits the tender to be used for card payments. |
| Credits Allowed | Checked | Permits the tender to be used for card refunds. |
| Credit Tendering Restrictions | Amount less than or equal to balance | Prevents refunding more than the original transaction value. |
| Prompt With Amount Due | Checked | Pre-fills the tender entry with the amount due. |
| Debit/Credit Limits | Optional | Maximum payment or refund values if required. |
Restrictions 2 Tab
Specify the permitted Return Tenders for Card refunds. Where a card is no longer valid at the time of return, alternative return tenders (such as Gift Card or Cash) may be permitted:

Card-Specific Settings
The Card tender-specific tab provides additional settings for card payment behaviour:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Cashback Tender | If cashback is supported, select the tender (usually local Cash) used to return the cashback amount. |
| Disable Card Validation | If set, no card validation is carried out. Rarely used. |
| Print Separate Customer Voucher | If set, the customer receives two receipts - one with card payment details and one as the standard receipt. |
| Always Print Merchant Copy Voucher | Normally a merchant copy is only printed in exception circumstances. If set, a merchant copy is always printed. |
| Card Tender Return Option | Sets the rule for validating the card on receipted card returns: any card, any card used in the original transaction, or only the same card as originally used. |
For basic Card tender functionality, no changes are required under Discount Restrictions, Overlap Tenders, User Limits, Change, Surcharge, or Attributes. Refer to the How-to Guide - Configuring Tender Types for details on these tabs.
This completes the Card Tender Configuration.
Card Types
Card Types define the card schemes (e.g. Visa, Mastercard, Amex) that are accepted and configure how each scheme is processed.
Accessing Card Types
Navigate to Card Types using the Search or the path: Main Menu > Configuration > Financial > Card Types

When creating a new Card Type, enter the Region, Type, and Card Type ID, then select Create:

| Field | Description |

| Region | The Region for this card type. Use All Regions for card schemes available across all regions. |
| Type | The built-in Enactor card category (e.g. Payment Card, Gift Card, Loyalty Card). |
| Card Type ID | A unique identifier for this card type (e.g. VISA, MASTERCARD). |
This completes the Accessing Card Types configuration.
Card Type Configuration
Once the Card Type has been created, configure the following tabs.
General Tab

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Description | A display name for the card type. |
| Tender | The Tender Type associated with this card scheme (e.g. the Card tender created in the previous section). |
| Acquirer | The payment acquirer used to process this card type. Configure the Acquirer first if not yet set up. |
Payment Tab

| Cashback Ceiling | The maximum cashback amount permitted. |
Actions Tab
The Actions tab configures how the POS handles exceptions during card processing:

Each exception can be configured to Accept (always proceed), Reject (always decline), or Online Only (require a host connection to proceed). Settings are driven by retailer business rules and acquirer requirements.
Authorisation Tab
The Authorisation tab defines the business policy and acquirer requirements for authorising this card type:

Settings on the Authorisation tab are specific to the retailer's business rules and acquirer requirements. Refer to the full Enactor documentation for a complete explanation of all available fields.
Online PIN Tab

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Online PIN Type | The PIN method used: None, Online PIN, or Online PIN + Signature. |
| Online PIN Length Min/Max | The permitted PIN length range for this card type. |
| Enable Online PIN Bypass | Enables signature fallback if PIN entry is not possible. |
AVS Tab
The AVS (Address Verification System) tab specifies how card security code and address verification are handled for Card Not Present transactions:

ICC Tabs
The ICC1 and ICC2 tabs contain settings specific to EMV chip card processing. These values are specified by the card issuer and acquirer:

ICC1 and ICC2 settings are specified by the card issuer and acquirer and will be covered in more detail as part of the payment processing setup guide.
This completes the Card Type Configuration.
IIN Ranges
IIN (Issuer Identification Number) Ranges associate card number ranges with a specific Card Type, allowing the system to identify the card scheme when a card is presented.
Accessing IIN Ranges
Navigate to IIN Ranges using the Search or the path: Main Menu > Configuration > Financial > IIN Ranges

When creating a new IIN Range, enter the Range Start, Range End, and Minimum/Maximum PAN Length, then select Create:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Range Start | The first IIN number in the range (up to 15 digits). |
| Range End | The last IIN number in the range. |
| Minimum/Maximum PAN Length | The permitted card number lengths for this range. |
This completes the Accessing IIN Ranges configuration.
IIN Range Configuration
Once the IIN Range has been created, configure the following tabs.
General Tab

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Card Description | The display name for cards matching this range. |
| Issuer Description | A description of the card issuer. |
| Payment Card Type | The Card Type (defined in the Card Types section) that this IIN range belongs to. |
| Digit Group Lengths | How the PAN is grouped for display (e.g. 4-4-4-4 for a 16-digit card). |
| Country / Currency | The country and currency associated with this card range. |
Track Data Tab
The Track Data tab specifies where specific card data fields are located on the card's magnetic stripe. Unless a different scheme has been provided by the card issuer, use the standard values shown:

Applicable Cards Tab
The Applicable Cards tab defines what type of card this IIN range represents. A card may be marked as multiple types (e.g. a Visa Debit card is both a Payment Card and a Cheque Card):

| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Payment Card | Marks this range as a standard payment card (credit or debit). |
| Cheque Card | Marks this range as a cheque guarantee card (or combination debit). |
| Loyalty Card | Marks this range as a loyalty card. |
| Gift Card | Marks this range as a gift card. |
| Employee Card | Marks this range as an employee card. |
| Online Update | Allows online updates of loyalty accounts. Enabled by default. |
This completes the IIN Range Configuration.
Tender Menu Configuration
The Tender Menu provides the cash and card payment buttons visible to cashiers at the POS. This section covers creating a Tender menu and adding Cash and Card tender buttons.
Full POS menu structure creation is covered in a separate guide. This section covers only the creation and setup of a Tender menu within an existing menu structure.
Accessing Menus
Navigate to Menus using the Search or the path: Main Menu > Configuration > System > Menus

This completes the Accessing Menus configuration.
Creating a Tender Menu
When creating a new Tender menu, set the Menu Set to POS, select the Role that will have access to the menu (typically Sales Assistant for a standard Tender menu), and specify the Menu Group that the Tender menu will be added to. Enter a Menu ID and select Create:

This completes the Creating a Tender Menu configuration.
Adding Tender Buttons
Click the Add... button and select Add a new Button to create each tender button.

On the General tab of the new button, set the Event to Cash Tender and set the Button Label to the name that will appear to the cashier (e.g. Cash):

On the Data tab, add an item with the Name enactor.mfc.TenderId, a Java Type of String, and the Value set to the Tender ID of the Cash tender created earlier (e.g. CASH_UK), then click Add:

Card Tender Button
Repeat the process for the Card tender. On the General tab, set the Event to Card Tender and the Button Label to Cards:

On the Data tab, add an item with the Name enactor.mfc.TenderId, a Java Type of String, and the Value set to the Tender ID of the Card tender (e.g. CARD), then click Add:

This completes the Adding Tender Buttons configuration.
Broadcasting
After configuring Cash and Card payment settings in the Estate Manager, the changes must be broadcast to POS devices for them to take effect.
Broadcast the following entities after creating or modifying these settings:
- Tender
- Card Type
- IIN Range
- Menu (if the Tender Menu was created or modified)
Broadcasts are covered in detail in the Broadcasting How-To Guide.
