  • Configure group hierarchies to reflect a simple retail organisation

  • Understand how other configuration data fits into the organisation structure so that the right information is maintained at the right level

Organisation Structure - IDs and Descriptions - Best Practices

Most entities have both an ID and a Description/Name:

ID

  • Internal unique identifier
  • Always mandatory
  • Recommended: use upper case with underscores instead of spaces

Description

  • Freeform and human-friendly
  • Usually mandatory
  • Recommended: should be unique
  • Often translated into multiple languages

Please incorporate your TrainX ID into any IDs you create to simplify identification.


Exercise 4 - Region Configuration

This will be a group exercise.

  1. Open Groups
  2. Select the Region Group type
  3. Edit Region Id = All
  4. Select the region United Kingdom
  5. Create a new region: Region ID = TrainX-Region; Create
  6. Enter: Name = TrainX Region - {your name}; Currency Id = Pounds Sterling
  7. Save

Exercise 5 - MM Group Configuration

  1. Open Groups
  2. Select the MM Group type
  3. Create a new MM Group Hierarchy: Hierarchy Id = TrainX-MMGroup; Region = All Regions; Create
  4. Add 2 levels under your new MM Group
  5. Select TrainX-MMGroup, Select Add MM Group: Group ID = TRAINX-MERCH; Create; Name = TrainX Merchandise Products; Save
  6. Select Add MM Group: Group ID = TRAINX-STYLE; Create; Name = TrainX Style Products; Save; Save
