Responsibilities

  • Builds PEDs - assembles the payment devices to specification
  • Installs software and keys - loads the payment application and encryption keys onto each PED
  • Dispatches to merchant - ships completed PEDs in tamper-evident packaging

Build Specification

  • Each PED is built to a defined Build Specification that specifies the exact software version, configuration, and encryption key set
