Course Overview

Objectives

This course shows how the Enactor solution is deployed on specific hardware, operating systems and peripherals, enabling attendees to deploy the Enactor solution in-store and providing guidance on how to deploy Enactor within a repeatable gold build implementation process.

After attending, participants should:

  • Be able to install the Enactor store applications on their own hardware
  • Be able to configure POS Terminals to use supported hardware such as scanners and printers
  • Understand the principles of device and peripheral integration using Enactor
  • Understand the principles of device and peripheral integration using JPOS

The duration of the course is one day.

  • Enactor Store Architecture
  • Store and POS Configuration
  • Hardware, OS and DBMS Setup
  • Enactor Application Installation

Six progressive practical exercises build from store configuration through to a working POS terminal with live data.


Targeted Attendees

The attendees of the training are expected to be those who will be actively involved in deploying and managing Enactor store infrastructure, including:

  • Systems Engineers
  • Technical Architects
  • IT Operations Teams
  • Store Technology Managers
  • Infrastructure Engineers
  • POS Deployment Specialists

Prerequisites

Attendees should have:

  • A working understanding of Windows operating systems and basic networking
  • Familiarity with database concepts (installation, user creation)
  • Completion of (or equivalent knowledge to) the Introduction to Enactor course, particularly the Store and POS Setup session
  • Basic understanding of the Enactor Estate Manager

Infrastructure Requirements

This training will normally be held at the Enactor offices or remotely via virtual training environment. Enactor will supply all required infrastructure including virtual POS devices pre-loaded with installation files.

Participants will be provided with access to:

  • Virtual POS devices (Windows 10)
  • Pre-installed MariaDB installation MSI and setup scripts
  • Enactor POS Installation MSI and Installer.ini
  • Access to a shared Estate Manager training environment

Participants should bring their own laptops for remote access to the virtual environment.
